About the Salon:
Sistaz Hair Salon first opened their doors in 2000.Sharon Brown and Cheryl Henderson co-own the salon. When Sistaz Hair Salon was first instituted it was run from Brown’s garage that was converted into a Salon. Its tight quarters initiated the idea for an expansion of the salon in 2005 where it more than doubled its size. Now located at 502 4th Street in Lancaster the salon has had cause for celebration, as it has marked its establishment of more than 19 years in the small business community.
Although the business has made such a definite impact in the business community and has become a pioneer as a successful, minority-owned business, it was not always an easy journey. After years of working under people Brown grew restless and decided she would work for herself. After graduating from the Lancaster School of Cosmetology, getting her associates degree in business and learning the business aspect of managing a hair salon she opened the doors, not only for Sistaz Hair Salon but also a door for dreams. She shared her gift with others by getting her teaching license, to teach at American Beauty Academy. Sharon and Cheryl opened a door for minorities, women, and single parents to name a few, it made a statement that what can sometimes seem impossible is just in your reach. Both single parents struggling to pay bills, they set out on a mission to change things for themselves, and that they did. Later on in 2008 Sharon was awarded "Entrepreneur Of The Year" Through AssetsLancaster. The Salon Itself was awarded " Business Expansion Award " in 2005.
Following Sharon, Henderson too enrolled in cosmetology while working as an assistant for her sister. After graduating, the duo focused their expertise in restoring damaged hair, which has become the mission for Sistaz Hair Salon. Their knowledge, passion, and talent, along with reasonable pricing, prove their dedication to catering to their clients needs. As a biracial, multi-cultural salon they continue to service an estimated 400 clients.
